1. MY FIRST TRIP: BRIGHTON

09/08/2019

Today is a happy day because we are going to the Brighton. This is a city by the sea. I love the sea, so I really like this city. We took the coach from the school in the morning and we arrived in Brighton after an hour and a half. We visited the Brighton Museum.

My classmates and I went to a very famous seafood restaurant to eat seafoods, which was very delicious.

Happy time is always short.

We didn’t have enough time to enjoy the sea breeze, and we ended our day trip.

6.Adam Elliot

I would like to talk about Adam Elliot(1972), he is the director of stop motion animation “Marry and Max”(2009). Clay animated biography is his Characteristics. Each film takes up to five years to complete. As I said earlier, these are made of clay, as a richly natural material, clay is sustainable. The general clay is formed by the silicate mineral weathering on the surface of the earth. The composition of this clay is mainly silica and alumina, white and refractory, and is the main raw material for the preparation of porcelain clay.  So is Clay environmentally friendly? Absolutely. Clay is an inert and environmentally friendly material, it is also a sought-after architectural design component. Throughout history, humans have used it for architecture, pottery, and so on. When the clay is dry – whether in the air or the sun – the physical and chemical properties of the mixture change, making it very hard and stable. The need to combine current architectural practices with the concept of sustainable development once again demonstrates the role of clay bricks as one of the greenest building materials in green building design. It is completely recyclable and ultimately can be returned to earth. However, Using clay to make a stop motion animation is very laborious. Each object or character is engraved with clay material, usually around a wireframe, and then take the shot, each lens needs to be slightly moved by hand and to prepare for the next lens, as so on. Until the animator reached the required amount of film. So I think this is a sustainable way in the future.

After my research, I found an animation produced by Strange Beast, Material World sees sound bits of interviews with the fashion community, exploring eight brands and “the ways they are working to make stylish materials more sustainable”. Using 2D animation and Sars’s sassy style of illustration, their words are brought to life in a mix of deep red, purple and blue.

The animator team gives life to a number of arguments and messages, and brings a lot of style and style. The resulting movie is a good way to illustrate

For example:

For a lot of people sustainable fashion is all about weird looking harem pants. Eco-friendly fashion can be hard on the outside. it can be a punk aesthetic and soft on the inside.
your happiness shouldn’t be marred by someone else’s detriment, you know someone who is in the cotton field who is being poisoned by pesticides. (Anna Ginsburg)

Denim is one of the biggest polluters in the industry, you see the corrosiveness of the chemicals exposed in the air, you see people painted in indigo and blue, and you just know that this is toxic. One pair of jeans takes 4000liters of water to produce, instead of hopping on new trends and trying to do fast fashion. (Anna Ginsburg)

I got the inspiration from this animation, because this animation was made using 2D technology, and if you can make him 3D later, it will be a more interesting promo. The expression of this cartoon is very simple and clear, I will consider the same way as him.

4.Lodon: Tate Modern

As usual, we had a school trip on Friday. This time we went to London Tate modern. This was remodeled by a waste factory.

Tate modern is a modern art gullery in London. This building has 10floors, on top of it, restaurant, coffee shop and viewing layer. 1F~3F are the exhibition. The main collection displays consist of 8 areas with a named theme or subject.

Untitled (for Francis) 1985

I think this piece is very eye-catching. There is a hole in his chest, and there is also a palm and a foot. This a plaster mould of the artist’s body, reinforced with fiberglass and encased in a skin made from sheets of soldered lead. pierced in the breast, hands and feet and showing the palms of its hands, the figure has affinities with images of Christian saints displaying the wounds of Christ.

I think this art museum is unique, not only its shape, but also the various artworks displayed inside. The art gallery is very large. It tooks us(my friends and I) nearly two hours to see the artworks. Some of them are paintings, some are artworks made from the materials that are often used and seen in our lives.

To be honest, I don’t understand the most of the artwork inside. My friends and I have also observed and discussed, but we don’t know the story of the artist that each modern art carries.

I think that there are some art works can be linked to my project because there are some artworks that used materials that we often seen and abandoned in our lives, and then process them as a fine art. Keeping it. That is the value of its existence.

3.Project

It took us less than two weeks from the start of the team to the completion of the production.

We do the research together first. Discuss and express our ideas together.

Earth is the only planet that we can live in, however, due to the development of human science and technology, the environment has been seriously polluted, and many animals have been extinct.  At the same time, we are also frequently subjected to natural disasters.

We are thinking about marine litter and recteling. Because after the research, our current living environment is getting worse and worse, and other animals have been endangered, marine pollution is the most serious. Because marine life has been damaged by plastics, plastic molecules have been integrated into the organism, through the food chain, humans eat marine life again, that means humans are eating the  plastic molecules also.

we hope that after our project, people began to pay attention on the plastic problems.  It is not only important to pay attention to the protection of the marine environment, but also to the recycling and reuse of plastics.

2. Tania Bruguer

Tania Bruguer, she was born in 1968.

She is a Cuban installation and performance artist, she had a difficult life, because her art actions, she has been arrested and jailed several times.

In 1997, her work “THE BURDEN OF GUILT”, (which I pasted below), this work take on a story that local people in Cuba vowed to eat dirt and nothing else rather than become the captives

of the Spanish enslaver. Tania Bruger, she use eating of dirt as a ‘weapon of resistance’

Because in Cuban’s culture, they are from the Earth, where they had been born, which is to say, they ate their ancestors, them-selves, their history and memory, as if they were committing a cultural suicide.

After the research that I have done so far, I think this work may affect mine because nowadays our environment problems are becoming more and more serious, just like we are eating our own dirt (the resources from the earth. Just like the picture that I drew below, we are eating and destory our planet. ), once we finished, we won’t be able to survive any more.
